The local towns it names are Arlington Heights, Palatine, Schaumburg, Des Plaines, Mount Prospect and Buffalo Grove. All of them but Palatine have their own page in the region list further down.
Prospect Heights, Right Next Door
Prospect Heights sits next to Arlington Heights, Wheeling and Mount Prospect. CMAP puts 22.8% of its homes in buildings of 20 or more units, and about a third of households rent. If you live in one of those buildings, put the floor and any elevator in the details box when you ask for a quote.
Buying a house there? The city supplies water to only part of town, and homes off its system run on private wells. It says a buyer should make sure the last owner's utility balance is paid before closing.

What Decides the Price of a Local Move
We don't post a rate card on this page. Local moves are billed by the hour. Before move day, a walkthrough estimate sets out the crew size and scope. Sarah's review says "Did exactly what I hired them to do. No upcharging."

Move day prep
Getting Ready in the Northwest Suburbs
The towns around Arlington Heights write their own street rules, and they don't match. Most of what follows is posted on the Palatine, Rolling Meadows and Prospect Heights websites. The apartment figure comes from NeighborhoodScout. Here's what it means for your date.
Street parking has a clock
Palatine won't let any vehicle sit on a street, alley or parkway for more than 15 minutes between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Rolling Meadows bans street parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., and exceptions go through its 24-hour police service desk or an online request. If a rental trailer or a second car has to stay out overnight, settle the exception before move week.
Snow and leaves change the curb
After two inches of snow, Palatine bans street parking for 24 hours. In fall, raked leaves go into the street for village pickup, and Palatine asks people to keep cars off the street on collection days. In 2026 its curbside collection starts October 26, with three passes per single-family home through the week of November 16. If your move lands in that window, look up your pickup day first.
Apartments and condos keep their own rules
In Palatine, NeighborhoodScout counts about a third of the housing as large apartment complexes or high-rises. If you live in one, ask your management office what it wants from a mover, an elevator booking or paperwork, and tell us when you book.
Some streets are closed to big trucks
Palatine posts certain streets No Trucks, which limits them to trucks of 10,000 pounds gross weight or less. A truck can still use one when its stop is on that street, but it can't cut through. The village also posts weight limits on two bridges, Quentin Road between Dundee and Lake-Cook, and Palatine Road between Rohlwing and Winston. That's one more reason we ask for the exact address.
Clear out before the truck comes
Palatine's curbside service takes furniture, mattresses and grills at no extra charge, though anything over 50 pounds or 4 feet long needs its own pickup booked first. Rolling Meadows lets you hold a garage sale with no permit, up to three in 12 months. In Prospect Heights, bulk pickup goes through Flood Brothers, the city's hauler. Single-family homes and the Rob Roy townhome community put carts out for Friday pickup, no earlier than 7 p.m. the night before.
Then tell us what's left that's heavy or awkward. Betty wrote, "I was worried about moving my grand piano, but they did it flawlessly!" If a piano is coming with you, say so when you book.
Choosing a mover

- Who shows up? Ask for names. Kavi wrote "Simon, Vasily, and Jaime were excellent!" and Sandra's review names Simon and Jeime too.

- Licensed and insured? We are. Make every mover you call say so, then check it.
